Interrotron

Three cameras. Every voice. All at once.

The Interrotron icon: a pair of eyes peering over the back of an iPhone's three lenses

Interrotron turns an iPhone into a three-camera interview rig. It records the telephoto, the wide and the front camera at the same time, together with the iPhone's stereo microphone and an AirPods microphone. Every camera and every microphone lands in its own file. Nothing is mixed down, so you get every angle and every voice to cut together later.

Interview someone across the room

Set your AirPods' microphone to one side, give the subject that AirPod and keep the other. The subject's AirPod records their voice up close, across the room. Interrotron can play it into the videographer's ear, and play the iPhone's microphone (the videographer's questions) into the subject's ear. Nobody has to shout across the room.

Interrotron's AirPods routing: the AirPods mic to the right AirPod, the iPhone mic to the left AirPod, each with sensitivity and volume
Each microphone goes to the AirPod you pick, with its own sensitivity and volume.

Every routing tap is spoken into both AirPods ("Left AirPod receiving iPhone microphone audio"), so both of you know what you're hearing. How to set up an interview.

Three cameras

The telephoto switches between 4× and 8×, the wide between 1× and 2×, and the front camera faces you. The iPhone has a budget for running cameras together, and Interrotron starts at 4K and steps down until all three fit. On iPhone 17 Pro that is 4K on the wide camera and 1080p on the telephoto and front. Three cameras at 4K is beyond what the phone allows. On iPhone 17 Pro it can also record ProRes. All the features.

Interrotron is in development for iPhone. Coming to the App Store.
